Caribbean, Jan-May 2017, all onboard costs covered.
Warning, the boat is for sale so plans could change at short notice.
We’ll be sailing throughout the Windward Isles between early January and late May 2017. Pick the boat up in Grenada then head North until April then back to Grenada to lay up at the end of May. It’ll be my wife and I onboard and I’m looking for a young couple to help us out.
Ideal crew would have some sailing experience, stood night watches and perhaps done a couple of longer passages. You’d need to handle a rib and preferrably have a scuba diving ticket (we’ve got all the gear). French language skills helpful.
You’ll be required to do all the cooking, clean and polish the boat, run errands, do the shopping, stand watches, help with docking, and do all the jobs I don’t like doing. In return I’ll cover all boat costs and everything (within reason) used on board inc food & drink. You’ll provide your own pocket money for trips ashore and your own socialising. You’ll need to get yourself to Grenada approx 10th Jan and get home afterwards.
As boats go she’s very comfortable, got all the gear and is very well maintained. There’s a spare double cabin for crew with own ensuite. A typical day on board might start at 8am, a leisurely breakfast, 3/4 hours sailing then a few beers, dinner and the latest film on the TV; or perhaps we’ll anchor out, take the rib and explore and do a bit of fishing or diving; or it might be swabbing the decks, fixing the blocked toilet and helping me to fit a new bit of equipment.
We’re very relaxed, smoke and drink too much, enjoy lazing around doing nothing and consider the sailing bit as a means to get somewhere else as quickly as possible. Most of the time we’ll be anchored in a pretty bay with our feet dangling in the water. I have approx 7000NM under my belt and took the boat from Scotland to the Caribbean in 2015 then have cruised here for 2 seasons so have a good idea of the area.
You’ll need to bring clothes, nothing posh, we never go anywhere that needs a tie or jacket. T shirt/shorts are fine. No marking soles. Waterproofs and a fleecy top to keep the morning chill off. Toiletries, eco type stuff gives the fishies a chance, personal medicine, sun hat, suncream, sun glasses, passport. Pack it all in a soft sided case which we can stuff in a drawer, no room for suitcases.
All boat equipment such as life jacket, harness, dive gear, etc is provided and is of a high standard.
Please get in touch if you fancy this trip. If I don’t know you then you’ll need to tell me lots about yourself and provide a couple of references.
